Fostering a Dog
Precious Paws Rescue does not operate a shelter facility; every dog we rescue is here because a dedicated volunteer opened their home to become a foster family. We rely on our foster families to be able to rescue more of the dogs who need us most. When you become a foster volunteer we do our best to match you with a dog that suits your home (ie. If you have other pets we will only place dogs with you that have been tested with other animals), this is why we ask you to complete the foster application as thoroughly as possible so that we can get to know you and your family better.
Precious Paws is responsible for all veterinary costs for your foster dog until adoption. We are also able to provide other essentials (crate, food, treats, toys) where needed. Some of our fosters choose to supply food for their foster dog and this helps to alleviate some costs for the rescue but it’s not a requirement of fostering so please be honest about what you can and cannot provide while fostering. Our main goal is helping dogs in need and we can’t do that without you!
Once you submit your application one of our dedicated volunteers will contact you to discuss your application and our foster program in more detail. We will also schedule a home visit with you. The home visit is so that we can meet everyone in the home (other pets included) and see where the foster dog would be living. This is a great chance to speak with you one on one about what fostering means to you and answer any questions you may have.
Please remember that there are no wrong answers – we just want to get to know you and your family so that we can best match you with a dog in need! We look forward to adding you to our incredible foster team and thank you for taking the time to fill out the following application;
