How You Can Help

Precious Paws Rescue is a 100% volunteer organization - we have no paid staff at all. That's why we are always looking for people who are interested in volunteering with the rescue! If you'd like to become involved with volunteering for events, community outreach, walking some of our current foster dogs, or through administrative work - we'd love to hear from you!

Interested in becoming a foster parent?

We are always looking for individuals and families who would like to open their heart and home to an animal in need through our foster program. Because Precious Paws does not have a shelter facility, we can only take in animals that we have foster space available for. Our foster homes generally supply the basic needs of the foster animals - food, treats, toys, dishes and other essentials - and Precious Paws covers all veterinary costs while the animal is in fostercare. We are always available for assistance for training, general questions or anything you might need to make your fostering experience a good one!

Our foster homes are screened in much the same way that our adoptive homes are. We do require a foster application to be filled out, a phone interview, as well as a home visit. All of these things ensure that we know you and your family - so that we can do our best to match you with an appropriate foster animal. And if you're thinking that you can't foster because you work full time - that's not a problem! The majority of our foster homes do work full time and that is absolutely okay! It's also okay if you have children or other pets of your own. That's why we like to get to know you - so that if you have young children for example, we cam match you with an animal that has already been tested and is good with young children.

Not able to volunteer, but still want to help?

Monetary donations are always greatly appreciated! You can make a donation online and receive a tax receipt instantly by clicking on any of our "Canada Helps" links. Or you can also make a donation directly to Precious Paws Rescue's account at Simcoe Veterinary Hospital. To do so by credit card, just call 705-726-8002 and ask to donate to the Precious Paws account. If you prefer to make a donation by cheque, please make cheques payable to "Simcoe Veterinary Hospital" and mail to;
